FOUS DE LA MER (CRAZY FOR THE SEA) BRINGS HOME THE IBIZA SUNSHINE.
FLOATING TRANQUILITY WITH MEDITERRANEAN FRESHNESS.
Who owns the sea? The fishes, that inhabit it, or the stars, that have admired
their reflection in it since the beginning of time?
Or maybe it belongs to the crazy ones that are seeking it? That’s what Fous De La Mer are, crazy about the sea.
After their legendary show with their then project Glissando Bros at Barcelona's
Sonar Festival in June 2001 Marko Bussian (keys) and Jean-Charles Vandermynsbrugge
(bass, also known from ‘Senor Coconut and His Orchestra’) decided to visit the mysterious
island of Ibiza in a quest for new inspiration. Here they found the voice of
wonderful Sol Ruiz de Galarreta, one of the most exceptional vocalists of this
magical island (‘The island’s most beautiful mermaid’ Pacha magazine). Fous De La Mer was born.
In 2004 they recorded their first album Stars & Fishes, one of the most emotional albums emerging from the balearic music style
to date. Since then, many of their songs, such as second album Ultramar's (2006)
Never Stop Loving, Conmigo or Watersong, as well as instrumental pieces, such
as Stars & fishes, Vue sur la mer or The real santi have become classics of the Chill Out
genre. Fous de la mer's music can be found on some of the internationally most
acclaimed Chill Out compilations (Sony 'Erotic Lounge', 'Café Ibiza', Hed Kandi 'Serve Chilled' 2007) and has been used for Film and TV (Vox
Wolkenlos 'Ibiza Special' 2005 & 2006).
The band's third album Ipanema (2008) was a new interpretation of their best
known songs, rendering homage to the original bossa nova music of the 60´s. Acoustic live instruments mixed with smooth electronic elements, presented
in the unique Fous de la mer style. In time for the summer of 2010 the band released
a 6-track EP featuring title song All We Need Is Love, a 60ies inspired summer
hymn, joined by typical electronic chill out tunes and a special dub version
of their song Bigger Love (Ipanema).
Their new album, Reggatta De Bleu, whose name took inspiration from the 80’s Police album ‘Reggatta De Blanc’, includes a homage to the french band Air, with a wonderful adaption of their
late 90’s hit ‘All I Need’. Besides, there are some stunning songs such as Time To Wake Up, Say It, Balanceando
Mis Caderas, All We Need Is Love, No Fun Without You and
brilliant instrumental tracks such as My Rich Girl, A.n.o.t.he.r.
L.ov.e. S.o.n.g., All Around The World, Reggatta De Bleu,
Tu Es Mon Ange and Nuages that could be heard on the most
sublime beaches of the world and evoke dreamy landscapes
soaked in the soothing light of the setting sun.
On stage Fous De La Mer consequently offer a warm sound with fine electronic
elements blending in with natural live instruments (Keys, Double Bass, Percussion,
Guitar) and the wonderful voice of Sol Galarreta. Most of Fous De La Mer's
songs are recorded with a traditional approach, using real instruments such
as guitar, piano, bass and double bass, and accomplished by fine electronic
elements and a base/groove reminiscing deep house. Fous De La Mer's live set
exhibits a touch of wonderful summer heat and pop music, conjuring up a cocktail
of natural sounds and electronic elements influenced by dub and deep house.
A collection of fine and elegant sounds from the shores, dub, trip hop rhythms
mixed with sensual mermaid songs. International jet setters and fast lane free
travelers alike choose this music as a soothing soundtrack on a sojourn across
the European landscapes... Starry nights, oceans, fresh air and relaxed minds
...Chill Out with attitude.
